The Muppets

I can vaguely remember watching the Muppets as I grew up but I can't really recall any much of the character's name except for Kermit and Miss Piggy. Sad but true. However I do remember watching them best known for celebrity guest appearance.

It is a weird world living with the Muppets. My bother screwed me when I said the chicken can fly and taunts me a man who is a Muppet who thinks he's a man and talking animal puppets. LOL

The Muppets are surely a show for the kids but if you grow up with them, you can enjoy it too. I sure did especially with the cheesy humor. Come on, lighten up.

The gang got back together with a help of a Muppet man, Walter to save their studio from destruction from an oil tycoon. True to the original show, the show boast many great cameos of the known with some only in feature in deleted scenes.

The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo

I've been yearning to read Stieg Larsson's novel for the longest time but my timing has been stretched to the longest time with multiple activities. Once I can managed the time, I had to cheat by watching the The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo rather than reading it.

I did not watch the original Swedish version but by comparing the 2 two actress, Lisbeth (Rooney Mara) in the American version is more mentally unsound than the Swedish counterpart and who can't get enough of Daniel Craig. He's a great actor for English thrillers if you can classify James Bond as a thriller.

The story is dead slow. Mikhael (Craig) was hired to investigate the disappearance and a possible murder of a grandniece in exchange for valuable information against a businessman that won a libel case against Mikhael.

As the story unfolds, I get drawn into the mysteries of the investigation and the psychological thinking of Lisbeth which lead to a less expected love connection to Mikhael.

The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo is very gritty but slow. A great thriller with great actors and storyline. I wouldn't mind catching the next installment.

Hugo

I loved Martin Scorsese's films. He captures emotions and reminiscence to great levels. Initially thought that Hugo would be an animation but he gelled stunning animated surroundings to real life.

Hugo is our titular character whose father died in a museum explosion. Hugo is unable to complete the mysteries of an automaton with his father. He was brought in to his drunken uncle to live and work in the clock tower of the train station Gare Montparnasse where he continues to repair and solve the mysteries of the automaton.

With help from Isabelle whom he met at the train station, they managed to uncover the mysteries of the automaton which leads to another great adventure.

This would be my second movie in 2012 where a father had left his child with a mystery to uncover. As the show progresses, a different turn of events occurs. It was heartwarming and emotional roller-coaster for the character that Mr. Scorsese managed to capture greatly.

The Adventures of Tintin

You could say that this show could be a remake of a old show. I do remember reading and watching the cartoon when I was in my primary school days. But after years past, I barely remember what I've seen and read.

The Adventures of Tintin film is a collection of 3 of it's original comic by Herge - The Crab with the Golden Claws, The Secret of the Unicorn and Red Rackham's Treasure all infused into a seamless animation. Yup, the show is an animation which is a stunning one I must add. The character's likeliness is more realistic in real life and as in the comics. The graphics are truly stunning and as real as the real world, thanks to the team that brought Smeagle into life.

Steven Spielberg directs with Peter Jackson producing the film did a great reminiscence of an old time classic. It's a refreshing look of the old.

The Three Musketeers

Many epic movies have been remake for countless times and The Three Musketeers is one of them. Do keep in mind of the repeat of "One for all and all for one" if you've been watching the gazillion remakes. But years and technology progresses, the show keep to a great expectation.

Expect tons of swashbuckling swords play with added superb action sequences and not to forget stunning explosive actions to a great level. With seductress Milla Jovovich in act and in action too, the show could get any better. Looking at Milla Jovovich in renaissance attire and performing those stuns is truly remarkable.

And what of out musketeers, I can't really recall the other remakes but they have great characters, skills and chemistry.

Somehow with Orlando Bloom in the picture, I'm getting tired of him in renaissance era. Sure he looks of the era but show not much versatility in his characterization. Legolas was great but him in blonde don't really look good. Fine! Stay in renaissance era but I'll sure get bored of you.

The Descendants

It has been ages since my last movie. Been busy with a lot of things - work, research and games. Managed to slip in a movie while doing the house chores. Still managed well with the multitasking I picked up while in SB.

The Descendants is truly a heartwarming movie. A husband, Matt King who's wife is in a coma due to a boating accident. He tends to his two daughters, Alex and Scottie whom he is not close to. Knowing that his wife will never wakes up, he confronted his eldest, Alex of the decision to let her mother go. Angered by the decision, they had a quarrel and Alex broke the news of her mothers affair. Feeling betrayed, Matt sets out in search to confront the lover to inform him of wife ill fate.

An academy award film which I don't feel much of the essence. Screenplay was definitely great but George Clooney is as monotonous as ever. I personally find him a bore with his monotone acting and voice. Wonder how he managed to snag the Best Actor at the Golden Globe Award.
