Based on Greek mythology and production from the that brought 300 to fame, Immortals is a great archaic movie based on Theseus life.Very similar to 300, the movie sets in a gloomy atmosphere with tons of great actions between human, gods and titans. The slow motion sequence of the god battles with the titans are remarkably stunning, pacing the fast movements of the gods.
Mickey Rourke does make a good villain with his real life archaic figure. He sets well for villain/hero of the era. Our hero Theseus (Henry Cavill) is lacking the heroism aura. Hope he won't f**k up Superman.
There are great characterization of the Minotaur which is actually human. What I would love to know is, statues and documentations of mythologies shows the people naked in all sorts of event be it battles or major events. Why would film not produced in such, nakedness throughout the who mythology event as per statues and paintings. That would be a true essence of a mythology.
