There have been a tad too many Snow White for 2012. Firstly there was the completed TV series of Once Upon A Time which circles mostly around Snow, and then later in the Summer was Kristen Steward's Snow White and the Huntsman. In between there was Mirror Mirror which I missed in the theaters.
With an Indian director in helm, I thought the movie would be very much like a Bollywood movie but I was wrong. Sure, the costumes were stunning, and apparently the story was captivating too.
It's not your usual Grimm fairy tale and it's surely not your typical Snow White either. There's still the evil queen (nicely played by Julia Roberts), the magical mirror which is kinda cool, the charming prince (less heroic) and of course the 7 dwarves. The story however is slightly different than the usual.
Something caught my eyes from Snow White. Yes, she's the fairest of them all but that bushy eyebrows kept me staring. Could it be a trademark? I don't know but it's truly eye gazing too be missed.
Remember I mentioned that it's not too Bollywood type of movie, Tarsem Singh proved me right at the very ending. His directing is stunning with the costume and set, and not to forget some visual aspect of the show. But the last number was unnecessary. Like really...
